PURPOSE
The purpose of the Lakeway Players is to perform regularly scheduled dramatic and musical presentations for public enjoyment through the involvement of volunteer performers and backstage workers.
How it all started
The Lakeway Players began in the fall of 2001, when a group of drama enthusiasts decided to perform a play written by local Lakeway resident, Sue Wright. The play was titled THE BEST LITTLE COURTHOUSE IN TEXAS and was performed at the newly opened Lakeway Activity Center. Since then, the Players have continued to produce two shows a year, in the spring and in the fall.

The mission of the Lakeway Players is to foster and promote public interest in the performing arts by participating in all aspects of theatre, including writing, acting, singing, dancing, directing, sound, lighting, costuming, and backstage work.

Upcoming Show - Four Old Broads

Four sassy senior ladies: Beatrice, Eaddy, Imogene, and Maude need a break from bingo and macramé. They want to take a SASSY SENIORS Caribbean cruise. Unfortunately, things have not been pleasant at Magnolia Place Assisted Living since nasty nurse Pat came to work there. A MYSTERY unfolds with LAUGHTER as the gals try to outsmart her.
Throw in a senior citizen beauty pageant, an old Elvis Impersonator, a trashy makeover and a bizarre thigh exerciser incident and you have a laugh a minute evening of theater that will have your audience ROLLING IN THE AISLES and RAVING for years to come!
Lakeway Players Pat Steinmetz Performing Arts Scholarship
In 2012, the Lakeway Players established an annual scholarship to support graduating seniors from Lake Travis High School pursuing higher education in the performing arts. Each spring, the Lakeway Players Scholarship Committee carefully reviews applications from local students dedicated to earning a degree in this field.
In 2025, the scholarship was renamed the Pat Steinmetz Performing Arts Scholarship to honor Pat’s enduring passion for the arts. That same year, thanks to the generous support of the Steinmetz family and in celebration of the Lakeway Players’ 25th Anniversary, the award amount was increased to $2,500. Recipients are chosen based on their academic achievements, leadership qualities, and active participation in the performing arts.
